Protecting your car from auto theft

While you may be worrying about your car’s gas mileage, and or thinking about a new paint job, there’s something else you might want to keep in mind. Technology in car protection is constantly improving, and one of your first priorities when thinking about your car is its safety. What would happen if someone tried breaking into your car? Would you be informed? Would they be able to start the car? These are some things you might want to look into when choosing your car’s safety.

You might have the infamous sound alarm. Upon disturbance, these will emit a loud, often continuous cacophony, consisting often of the car’s horn, various noises, and sometimes a prerecorded voice. The effectiveness of this is that a criminal doesn’t want to get caught. The instant your alarm goes off, the vandal or thief will likely go running. While you may not catch the crook, your will be where you left it, hopefully without a scratch.

Arming and disarming the alarm can be rather easy. Often, it involves the keys, and the driver can manually shut off the alarm by placing their key in the door. They may also be able to disengage the alarm from a button, usually attachable to the keys. There is also sometimes a button hidden inside the car to override the alarm.

How the alarm is triggered depends on the make and model of your vehicle. There are also many after market alarms, which can be purchased and installed after buying your car. These can be set off from opening the doors or trunk, and also when the hood is opened, or the ignition is turned on. They can also be triggered by an impact to the car, or a difference in voltage in the car, though the latter has become less useful, as car technology is starting to incorporate more electronics into vehicles.

Sirens and alarms, however, are not entirely effective. Some people might be able to get away with the car before you can get to it. Also, due to the number of alarms set off by accident in the past, people in urban areas are generally not prone to respond to a car alarm. So, what’s another good security precaution? Car immobilizers!

Car immobilizers are devices that prevent an unauthorized person in your car from driving away with it. It can prevent hotwiring, because the car will only start when the correct key is inserted. This is because the key contains a miniature circuit, and that will connect the electricity in the car. These have proven so efficient, that they are mandatory in all new cars in several nations, since as early as 1997.

In some cases, attempts to use the car will be reported through satellite or mobile phone. Some people might even try using a unauthorized copy of the key, but while that will not be sequenced, the car will still not start, and the report will be made. These immobilizers, like the alarms, can be purchased post-market, for older cars, which tend to be candidates for small auto theft.

The price of these security measures depends on where you get them, and how efficient they are. But, regardless of the cost, it’s a definite investment to have one installed into your car. You’re pouring the money into your car for insurance, gas, and tune ups anyway, and this is surely just as important as the other things.

There are two passageways or channels within the gun. One is for airflow the other for material flow. The fluid needle takes the required paint from the reservoir. As you use the trigger to control the tapered needle, it will pull it from the tip allowing more material through. Simultaneously the trigger regulates the air to allow siphoning of the material from the cup, and atomizes the paint. It is through the fast moving area that a low-pressure area materializes and uses the ambient air pressure as its catalyst to push the material from the cup. Now you can see what it is so important to keep the vent tubes clear and clean.

Some interesting and very important questions are such as these…

Qns 1: There are holes on both side of the air cap – what are they for?

These are like an air anvil and are called air horns. This is what allows you paint to flatten out so it makes a pattern. When the air meets the material it is in the impingement zone. As the air comes out of the horn the air hits directly in front of the air cap.

Qns 2: It is now becoming a regulation in many places to clean you gun in an enclosed gun washer. What’s the best way to use these?

If you have never used one before make sure you read and follow all instructions. They are designed to work in cycles of 60 seconds, so don’t leave you gun in there beyond that time period. The cleaning action is like putting your gun fully immersed into lacquer thinner. Can you imagine the shape of your gun if you leave it in too long or too often?

Condensation will form in your gun if you do not change the solvent on a regular basis. This means acids start to form and this is certainly not good for your gun. If you are cleaning, a gravity gun is sure to plug up the air inlet before putting it into the washer. You don’t want the solvent getting in here. Once done remove the gun and dry immediately with a cloth. If the packing starts to leak, you can change it.

Qns 3: My Spray gun produces a bad pattern:

Most likely, a rebuild kit won’t correct the problem. Balance the air with the material.

Some other things to remember is you have to use more that one gun for refinish materials if you are in a compliant area. Temperature ranges are important for HVLP guns if it’s the larger ones; it’s not for the smaller ones. Lubricate you gun with a 4 oz. Mineral oil.

Remember to match the fluid nozzles with the type of material you using. Using multiple guns means you don’t have to keep changing tips.

Keep your gun in top-notch shape by not dropping it or immersing it in thinned. Avoid harsh chemicals.

You must be in control of your spray gun at all times in the following areas…

a) Judging the correct distance from the gun to the object
b) Proper trigger action
c) Control of the speed at which you are working
d) The angle at which you hold the gun. This requires techniques such as heeling toeing and fanning.
e) Constantly watch what you are doing so you apply evenly. Do a perpendicular pass at a constant even speed. If you go slowly, you will apply more paint whereas if you go fast you will decrease the amount.
f) Make sure you are wetting the surface
g) Each pass must overlap the previous application by about 50%
h) Make sure you don’t double pass the same area

If you observe a problem let the paint flash and fix the problem on the second pass. There will be some flow after application but this will depend on the amount of reducer and hardener you have used. Once the paint catalyzes though whatever is showing is what will remain until you correct it.

Remember to take your time follow all the steps and you will master any weaknesses you have with your spray painting in no time with practice.

A car enthusiast will find few things more pleasurable than standing back and admiring the results of a few hours labour on a Sunday afternoon after having washed and waxed his car.

If you are interested in maintaining that showroom look you need more than elbow grease. You will also need quality products, especially when it comes to getting a nice shine onto your car using wax or paint sealant. Both will give you a lasting shine and both need to be applied regularly, so what’s the difference?

Ok, first off, wax and car paint sealant achieve the same desired effect. They are both paint protectors. They are designed to be applied after you have polished your car’s paintwork. The tiny abrasions and scratches in your paintwork is reduced or removed with polish. As it is designed to restore your paintwork to its original colour and shine, polish is slightly abrasive which also means that it will remove any wax that was previously applied leaving your paintwork unprotected. This is where wax and paint sealant comes in. It is applied after the polish has done its work in order to protect it.

I hope you have picked up on the fact that because the two types of product do the same thing then you don’t need to use both at the same time. Some people think that they need to apply paint sealant before they apply wax. This is not the case. You can do if you so choose but you don’t really gain anything. So, you have a personal choice to make. Paint sealant or wax.

Right, back to the original question. What’s the difference?

The ingredients make all the difference. If the list of ingredients shoes any reference to a natural wax such as Carnauba then it is a wax. If it is made from synthetic ingredients and contains no naturally occurring wax then it is a paint sealant.

However, there is another problem. There are no laws to stop a car sealant manufacturer calling their product a wax. The reason they do this is that that majority of people who will buy their product know they want to wax their car. They will therefore look for a wax in the shop. The majority of people won’t care whether it is synthetic or not as long as it does the job they want it to do.

So, in the end, you have a personal choice to make. Look for a wax if you want to only work with a natural wax product. If you prefer to work with synthetics then look for a paint sealant. Don’t go by the product name though. You need to look at the ingredients, just to be sure.

In case of car hiring the quality of the car should be remember. Same is applicable in case of car hire London. One has to remember that a car hiring is not an ordinary matter. There are a lot of issues related to that. After all, when you are not hiring a cab and it not like getting on a bus. I think you should not hire a car when you are not getting the car as your preference or as your choice The status & the dignity of a car owner should be remembered. In fact, these days in the age of rampant commercialization, the value of cars have diminished a lot. You might think that how can one say that when you see so many cars on the road and their numbers are increasing day by day. When you are going to hire a car then you must think about the quality of the car, we have to admit that the rate of increase of demand of quality cars is in the ebb. If you want to go to a <a rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link');" rel=”external nofollow” target=”_blank” href=”http://www.exan.co.uk”>car repair service centre around you, you will feel the sense what is been discussed over here. You will find that there are a lot of car repairing service centre that are cheap in cost. But you will not get satisfied with their performance. Actually it must be said that you will not get the quality service that you need. But when you are going to repair your dream car you should not compromise with the quality. Even it is a little bit of costly. After all it’s your car. The growth ofaccident car insurance is the practical evidence of casual approach in driving on behalf of the drivers and car owners. That’s why; we have vintage car rallies going around in the towns just to let us feel how important a car was treated once in the past. If you get a quality car repair service, it will really be a boon for you. There, you will get quality efforts from the servicemen with regards to your car paintwork and other repair needs. In fact, it must be your earnest effort to find the same as it is always your step ahead decision to buy a car. It is not just daily decision – in most of the cases, it will be the only purchase in your life. The case is different for frequent car buyers.
Help answer the question about Car Paint

Any recommendations for car paint touch up?
I have a 2000 chevy cavalier. There is a very small area where the paint chipped off and started to rust on the trunk. I bought a bottle of rust converter. I was planning on painting the area with the original car color. The only problem is that my car paint color is discontinued. Any recommendations on what I can do?
